Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first “novel” when she was nine, filling countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. Since having her daughter, Emma, she has been writing full time.

Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. Smart girls, strong girls, bad girls, brave girls. Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! These powerful stories of plucky girls in difficult circumstances won’t fail to strike a chord.

In 2007 Jacky Daydream was published, an inspirational true story of how a shy schoolgirl became a superstar author. This was followed by My Secret Diary, a captivating account of Jacky’s teenage years.

In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007. She also became a Dame in December 2007.

   about the book called secret!!

   this book is good because Treasure and India are from opposite sides of the tracks. Red-headed India lives in a luxury home with her posh mum, a famous fashion designer. Skinny beanpole Treasure lives on a council estate with her glamorous, line-dancing Nan. When India and Treasure meet, they form a bond straight away. But Treasure has a horrible secret – her bullying stepdad is picking on her. And when his violence goes too far, she has to run away…

   Where can Treasure hide? India has an idea. She has been reading the diary of Anne Frank. Couldn’t Treasure take refuge in India’s attic, just like Anne Frank did? Told through the secret diary entries of India and Treasure, this is a warm and inspiring tale of friendship in troubled times.

   I love jacky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

   ive been a jacky fan since three and i have to say this is my favourite book yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :)

   Jacqueline Wilson is a great author because she writes stories based on true situations as well as funny books,and Secrets is no difference!!!!!

   Recommend it for 9 years and up but if you’re a good reader then 8 years.

   I love this book sooo much. It’s exciting and I love the funny way India gives Treasure a pot to go toilet in like in Anne Frank’s diary! READ ANNE FRANK, THEN READ THIS OR YOU WONT UNDERSTAND!

   When India and Treasure meet they stick together like Superglue and wood ,and bond like crazy! When Treasure runs away from home she decides to hide in India’s attic with both their parents not knowing where they are. Can they pull it of? I hope so!...

    This book is amazingly written. This book is quite dramatic at the start and it gets your heart rate up, Jacqueline Wilson is a fantastic writer to able to make her readers feel like something’s real! I find this book quite touching as they twist Anne Frank in the story as a role model. This book is an amazing read to anyone who is 10+. As younger readers may find a bit of this book a little scary.

    Out of five stars’ i would give this book 4-Its not that i don’t like it, its just that its not the best Jacqueline Wilson book. And it didn’t really make me want to keep reading.

    This book is about two girls who come from a very diffrent background. When they met they bond at once-India decides to walk thought the estate where Treasure lives.

    I like thi book because it shows how people can be firneds no matter what background they come from. Its emotional, realstic and i would definately recomend it.

    Jacquline Wilson wrote this book brilliantely and I think I am like both Treasure and India. I absolutely LOVED Treasure’s gran, and she’s a bit like my gran!!!
