Product description
A new wartime classic from two legends of children’s literature! Michael Morpurgo and Michael Foreman have teamed up with the Royal British Legion to tell a new story inspired by the history of the poppy. When John McCrae wrote his famous poem “In Flanders Field” among the trenches of war-torn Belgium, neither he nor a local village girl who saves a discarded draft of it could know what enormous power that poem would have on generations to come.

So many memories
I was drawn in by the wonderful poppies. My mother was Belgian, from Ypres, and met my father when he was stationned there in the war. Our many childhood holidays were spent visiting relatives who had farms in and around the places mentionned in the story. The poppy fields, menin gate, bugle playing all evoke beautiful memories of happy times spent in a place that had seen such horrors. A wonderful story woven round the tradition of the poppy. I am ordering further copies for my father and my grown up children...Lest we forget
