Product description

Michael can’t remember his father, who died in a Spitfire over the English Channel. And his mother, heartbroken and passionate, doesn’t like to talk about him. But then Michael’s aunt gives him a medal and a photo which unravel a hidden story. A story of love, loss and secrets. A story that will change everything – and show Michael who he really is… Told with all of Michael Morpurgo’s skill and compassion, this new novel is a moving tale of identity, loss and the lingering legacy of war.

This is great! One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It is so easy to see the pictures in your head of Michael looking across the fields.

This is one of my favourite Michael Morpurgo books! It has many unanswered questions about mysterious characters and places. I love the fact that most of the book is written by his aunt before she died as a letter to the main character Michael. Michael finds it in a weird place, to find out where he finds the letter you will have to read the book!

I rate this book 20/10 as it is the best book I have read, it definitely does justice for black soldiers in war and it definitely shows Morpurgo’s writing skills!
