When Liz was little, she loved to draw, paint and make things. Her mum used to say she was very good at making a mess (which is still true today!).

She kept drawing and went to art school, where she earned a degree in graphic design. She worked as a designer and art director in the music industry, and her freelance work has appeared on a wide variety of products.

Liz is the author-illustrator of several picture books. Tom Gates is the first series of books she has written and illustrated for older children. They have won several prestigious awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award. The books have been translated into forty-one languages worldwide.

   More dumbing down!

   While these series may be funny for today's pre-teen generation, it is a blatant example of our continuous obsession with dumbing down the literature we offer our kids. The language used is meant for under 5s, the subjects approached cater to the brainless pursuits of the electronic games generations, the minimalist illustrations are meant to suggest again to our children that if they "do their best" - no matter how abismal the product of their efforts are - they are brilliant. Well, they are NOT. If - by the age of 7 - you are not able to draw more than stick people - find another way to express yourself because you clearly do not have any talents in drawing - and there is nothing wrong with that, you may become a brilliant philosopher some day, don't waste your time sketching with pencils and crayons!
   I honestly regret having allowed my daughter to chose her own book at the school book fair. This was the biggest waste of £6.99 since I let her buy "The diaries of a Wimpy Kid"!!

   These books are amazing comedy diary books all about a boy called tom gates annoying his annoying sister delia and embarresig dad and normal mum his best freind derek worst enemy marcus and his love amy you must who evers reading this you must buy it !!!!!!!!!!

    These books are amazing for people who like easy writing to read and a fun story to read.Also if you like the category diaries and journals then you will love the story so all you readers who like reading get the book.I would rate this book 10/10 and i bet you will when you read this book so buy these books and start reading them today.

    I have read all these books and it took me 3 days to finish because I would wake up in the morning read it till school then i would get back from school and read till dinner then after dinner i would read till bed.And i did that for 3 days and i finished it then for my birthday i got the other two and i was so happy.SO JUST GET THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!
