Product description

There’s more than meets the eye to Granny Hogsflesh and her pickling empire, but even Barnaby couldn’t have guessed how much more. Nor could he possibly have imagined what actually happened to his dad, who, burping and slurping, mysteriously disappeared into the night… What has Granny done?

Enter the hilarious and disgusting world of bogles and pickling with a delightfully eccentric cast and deliciously dark humour.

Its a good book, but I think its a bit young for a 12 year old like me, I gave it to my 7 year old sister and she could read it to herself. But the book in itself was good the way it was a mystery and I loved the idea of a gruesome granny running a pickle factory!! You should read this if you are under around 10ish you will find it funny and a good laugh!! :)

The Curse of the Bogle’s Beard is a BRILLIANT book! When his Dad disappears with all the family money, Barnaby is forced to live with his horrible old Granny. Granny lives in a massive revolting mansion where everything is painted purple, the “royal colour”. She is mad about pickling, and has a pickling factory. She will pickle anything.

Barnaby begins to believe that Granny has pickled his Dad. He plans a trip to Granny’s forbidden cellar. At the door he hears footsteps and rushes back to his room to find it wrecked. How could Granny be in two places at once…?

I really enjoyed this page-turning adventure and I would definitely recommend it.

This book was full of adventure and I couldn’t put it down! There are loads of twists and turns and my favourite bit was when they pickled Belchetta Bogle in a vat full of earwax!
