Jacqueline Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first “novel” when she was nine, filling countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. Since having her daughter, Emma, she has been writing full time.

Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. Smart girls, strong girls, bad girls, brave girls. Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! These powerful stories of plucky girls in difficult circumstances won’t fail to strike a chord.

She has written over 70 best-selling books, and several have even been adapted for TV – most famously The Story of Tracy Beaker. Her signing sessions attract huge crowds of fans and last for hours! Over 25 million copies of her books have now been sold in the UK alone.

In 2007 Jacky Daydream was published, an inspirational true story of how a shy schoolgirl became a superstar author. This was followed by My Secret Diary, a captivating account of Jacky’s teenage years.

In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007. She also became a Dame in December 2007.

   I have borrowed this book from the library and I especially like the story called Varjak Paw in it. I also loved reading leonie’s pet cat because It’s a family book that anyone can read. I would really recomend it to you.

   i think paws and whiskers was a great book it had many stories about cat and dogs and even a part about authors pets. from classics to modern stories written specially for the book. although the stories were quite long and it took me two whole weeks to read

   I love Jaquline wilson and her books this one is very good and its nice that she loves battersea cats and dogs home so much i love the way she puts all diffrient cat and dog stories toghter.My fav storie was leonies pet cat.

    A great story extract from paws and whiskers. Its so good I want to read the rest of the book. I can tell why its been called Paws and whiskers because the book is based around cats . I’d love to get my paws on. Its a purr-fect story to show how much Leonie wanted a friend because even if she didn’t have a pet she pretended she had a cat because she didn’t want to be alone.

    This book is amazing! The stories are incredible and I love the way they’re all written by lots of different authors! I especially loved the Pet bit where authors wrote about their own pets. I would recommend this book to every single animal-lover on earth!!!

    this book is epic it’s got a story from Jacqueline wilson about a girl that wants a pet of her own so she makes one up to get in the pet club. and one called cat wings Malorie Blackman and more awesome stories about cats and dogs made for young children and older children!
