Product description

Lily isn’t home alone – but if only she was! Mum’s gone off on holiday with her new boyfriend, and her stepdad has failed to show up as agreed. That leaves Lily in charge of the whole family – the six-year-old twins, her three-year-old sister and their flat. Poor Lily feels completely overwhelmed, but how can she tell anyone what’s happening? If school or social services find out, they might break up her family. But then Lily has a brainwave! She’ll take all the little ones for a camping adventure in the park! Plenty of space to run about, no carpet to vacuum, and surely no chance that anyone will guess why they’re there… A vivid and topical tale of families, love and loyalty, written in the classic Jacky vein.

At first, I didn’t really like this book as it took quite a long time to get to any exciting events but once you get to know the characters a bit better you begin to get hooked on the story! Jacqueline wilson did an amazing job of writing this book because she really makes each character have a unique personality which there are known for, this means that you get to know each character a lot better and you can imagine being them. Each of Jacqueline wilson’s books are different which makes them unpredictable. She has got to be my favourite author for this reason.

I would recommend this book to anyone between the ages of 9-12. Enjoy! x

This book is wicked! This book guide lines on a troubled family. Thus book is full of ad venture, tension and humour. I could not put this book down. Although I love this book it ends with a cut off so i’m not sure if it has a happy ending. Any girl age 10+ who loves reading should definetly read this book. As I think this book may scare children below 9 years of age.

I really like this book. I think that its the best book by Jacqueline Wilson. Lily’s mum goes of with her boyfriend to spain and leaves her with her three year old twin siblings and her 6 year old sister.Lily is determined to look after them, but then she starts worrying about school and thinks that maybe the social services might discover the situation. After all they’re free to do whatever they want…

This (amazing) novel is about an eleven year old girl called Lily. Her Mum seems to have depression, so Lily has to look after her younger siblings Bliss, Baxter and Pixie quite a lot. Lily feels very alone, but sometimes she prefers that.

Lily Alone really moved me. It was so emotional and when Lily and her brother and sisters went through all the troubles and trauma, you could just tell that the words had been well thought of, and the whole story in general just fitted together really well. It definitely isn’t the most original novel Jacqueline has written, but it was definitely the best. And I know that whenever I review her books, I say ‘it’s the best’ but this time I’m telling the absolute truth; Jacqueline’s books just get better and better every time.

My favourite character was Bliss, Lily’s sister. She was so sweet and cute, and she was very caring. My least favourite character was Mr Abbott, Lily’s teacher. Lily says she loves him, but to me he just seems like a horrible man who has nothing better to do than poke around in other peoples lives!

I recommend this fabulous novel to readers aged 9-16, and give it 5/5. This really is an incredibly moving story that stays with the reader long after the final page is turned.

lily isn’t home alone but she wishes she was. looking after her three younger siblings is a lot of responsility. when mumgoes off on holiday with here new boyfriend and leaves lily, six year old twins bliss and baxter, and little sister pixie on their own, lily is detemend to keep the family together and show they can cope without any, grown ups but when she fears there secret there secret is going to be discoverd she decids they need a safer hiding place. what could be better then to take all the little ones for a camping adventure in the park? plenty of space to runabout no flat to clean and surly no chance anyone will guess they’re there…

This book is amazing! It is full of adventure and once you start to read the boo k, well you just can’t put it dowm! You are always wondering what is going to happen next, at the end it wonderful, but sadly it is left as a cliffhanger, which just wants you to make the author write another book about. Anyone who hasn’t read this book, should, it is as simple as that!

Lily Alone is about Lily, her little sisters (Bliss and Pixie), her brother (Baxter) and her mum. They all live happily in their flat, when her mum meets a new boyfriend. He takes her to Spain, so Lily is left to look after her brother and sisters!

This book made me laugh and cry, when Lily, Bliss, Baxter and Pixie went on their big adventure. This is one of Jacqueline’s best books, if you like drama or just Jacquline Wilson books this definitely is for you! It shows the way some children do actually live. If you choose to get this book I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

    Chloe, age 10

I really like this book because Jacqueline Wilson describes the story in detail and when one of the siblings fell out the tree she really described the emotions in detail. I felt really sorry for Lily because she had to look after the kids and ended up staying in the park with the kids.

My favourite character is Pixie because she is quite quiet and shy. My favourite part was when Baxter hid behind the rubbish bins after leaving the flat. Another part of the book that I liked was the bit after the mum goes off to Spain. Lily takes her brothers and sisters to the park to go camping.

LILY’S THINGS TO REMEMBER! How to look after my brother and sisters

    1. Make sure they eat three meals a day – and not just ice cream! 2. Keep clothes not too mucky! 3. Everyone must go to bed before midnight, especially Pixie! 4. Don’t let them go to school in case they give away our secret. 5. Keep everyone safe till Mum comes back…

Lily isn’t home ALONE – but she sort of wishes she was; looking after her three younger siblings is a lot of responsibility.

When Mum goes off on holiday with her new boyfriend and her stepdad fails to show up, Lily is determined to keep the family together and show they can cope without any grown-ups. But taking care of 6-year-old twins, her 3-year-old sister and the family’s flat feels overwhelming and Lily is worried that school or social services might discover their situation and break up the family. What could be better than to take all the little ones for a camping adventure in the park? Plenty of space to run about, no carpet to vacuum, and surely no chance anyone will guess they’re there . . .

This really is an incedibly moving story that stays with the reader long after the final page is turned.
