When Isabel’s Yorkshire village is devastated by the Black Death, it seems that the world is ending in horror and fear. But for the survivors of the terrible plague, a new and freer society will rise from the destruction of the feudal system that enslaved her family.

I absolutely loved All Fall Down. I love historical books and I have never read one better than this (and probably never will)! Whatever way she did it, Sally Nicholls has used her special extraordinary talent to touch my heart. The characters are described in a way that the reader would say “I know someone like that!” and I feel as if I am the main character and I have known the other characters all of my life. I have to admit, the book brought tears to my eyes but in my opinion, that just makes it better! I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages. It seems as though each word as small as “a” was thought out with delicacy and perfection. All Fall Down= my favourite book (so far) Sally Nicholls= my favourite author!!!

This is a very well written and powerful book. It is about the plague so you have to expect death. It is still a great book and is written by a well regarded author. I would recommend for ages 12+

All Fall Down is an absolutely marvellous book, in fact I think it is the best book I have read so far in my life – I couldn’t put it down. I was studying the Black Death in history at school when I read this book and it really made it seem real. Although the story is set in 1349, the way that the author uses the present tense makes it seem as if everything is happening now. The characters in the book were very supportive of each other in such hard times and they were believable and modern. I wouldn’t recommend it to the faint hearted because of its gruesome descriptions of disease and death, but anyone one else should be gripped by its story of the struggle of survival against the unstoppable plague.
