Product description
The witches hate children with a sizzling red-hot hatred. They have sorcery in their fingers and devilry in their blood. Their plan is to destroy every last child in the world. Can one boy and his grandmother stop them? Introducing heaps of deliciously frightening characters – most memorably the truly terrible Grand High Witch – Roald Dahl’s most mesmerising and blood-chilling story is a transfixing tale to terrify and bewitch.

on 3 March 2012The witches was both scary for me, funny, and rather disgusting in parts. It was so enjoyable to read, and whatever age I am, when I see my Dahl collection, I don’t worry atall that I’m too old to be reading them. Quite the opposite actually, when I’m an adult I’ll be reading them to my children, because I think stories like the witches last centuries. :)

on 28 February 2010The Grand High Witch has a fiendish plan for getting rid of all the children in England. First, her fellow hags will take over all the sweet shops. Next, they will sell poisoned sweets and chocolate which turn children into mice! Then, make way for the mouse traps…
This terrible plan is overheard by the young boy narrator of the story. Fortunately, his grandma knows something about witches. Unfortunately, before he has a chance to consult her, he is turned into a mouse himself.
Will the witches triumph? Are the children of England doomed? And what exactly is the secret behind grandma’s missing finger? This award-winning tale has all the answers
