Jacqueline Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first “novel” when she was nine, filling countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. Since having her daughter, Emma, she has been writing full time.

Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. Smart girls, strong girls, bad girls, brave girls. Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! These powerful stories of plucky girls in difficult circumstances won’t fail to strike a chord.

She has written over 70 best-selling books, and several have even been adapted for TV – most famously The Story of Tracy Beaker. Her signing sessions attract huge crowds of fans and last for hours! Over 25 million copies of her books have now been sold in the UK alone.

In 2007 Jacky Daydream was published, an inspirational true story of how a shy schoolgirl became a superstar author. This was followed by My Secret Diary, a captivating account of Jacky’s teenage years.

In June 2002 Jacqueline was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and she was the Children’s Laureate from 2005-2007. She also became a Dame in December 2007.

    The Lottie Project this book was one of the best books i have ever read. the best book ever by Jacqueline Wilson! I loved this book because i liked the idea of comparing girls from the Victorian times and girls of this age. LOVED EVERY SINGLE PAGE!!

    This book is GREAT! Jacqueline Wilson tells the story of Charlie a girl who doesn’t like school an especially History. But when she starts a project about the Victorians she can relate to things in her troubled life to Lottie a Victorian maid that Charlie’s based her project around. This book is epic and anyone age 10 and over should read it!

    I found the Lottie project a fantastic read. Once I got started I couldn’t put it down.It was recommended tome by my teacher. On the outside it looks boring but when you start reading it is fascinating. It is all about a girl called Charlie who does a school project on a Victorian girl called Lottie.

    I have to admit this isn’t one of Jacqueline wilson’s best books she’s ever read but it is worth reading!! It is quite easy to read so you can be any age to read this book, probably more 7-15, but it’s perfect if you are doing the Victorians, like me when I was reading it, it really helps you actually and it makes learning fun!

    This book is about a girl called Lottie (she hates to be called Charlotte), for her Victorian project at school she decides to do a diary about a girl called Charlotte and what it’s like to be her and how hard it is to live. But when Lottie’s mum looses her job, Lottie realises how hard it is to live…...

    This is ok, it’s about Lottie and her history project. It’s not the best Jacqueline Wilson book but it’s worth a read if you’re a fan

    LOVED THIS BOOK THATS ALL I CAN SAY REALLY! Yes um well charlie is quite cheeky so it makes it funny in that way but its an amazing book please if you like the look of this book I would say buy it or borrow from a library :)

    Like all Jacky books, I loved the lottie project because it combined two things I enjoy. History and english. I just love the way it’s written, half Lottie and half charlotte, and how utterly rewarding this book shows hard work to be. It’s not always about quantity, it’s about quality, and good friends come in all shapes and sizes. Those are the lessons I learnt from this book, which I am uuberly grateful for! :D

    Interesting book, but slightly confusing as it switches between Victorian Lottie and Modern day Lottie. It is factual, but doesn’t feel like learning! Very good book!

    I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read, no matter what you read, you’ll find it brilliant. Another brilliant book by Jacqueline Wilson.

    I could tell this was going to be a good one and it was!! I borrowed it from my school and a page was missing! I was crazy!! I went to my local library and took it out and finished it from there. An amazing book!

    I can’t believe what Lottie did back in those times! If I was Lottie I would have run away because of the way everyone was treating her! This story was heart-gripping!

    The Lottie Project was a good book, but I was a bit stricken because Jacqueline Wilson was a bit rude this time, but all the same, it was a book worth reading, I loved the style of Lottie and the GAB girls, I thought Lisa was a wet cookie but Lottie, or Charlotte aka Charlie was the BEST charachter in the book. Thumbs up!

    “Hi! I’m Charlie (Don’t call me Charlotte – ever!). History is boring, right? Wrong! The Victorians weren’t all deadly dull and drippy. Lottie certainly isn’t.”

    For a school history project, Charlie starts to write the diary of Lottie, a Victorian serving girl. Lottie shares Charlie’s real name, Charlotte, and is also eleven, but that’s where the similarities seem to end. Unlike Charlie, Lottie has to go out and work, and help her mum to raise their big, poor family. It seems a million miles from Charlie’s life – until Mum loses her job. Suddenly, Charlie realises how much she can learn from Lottie’s hardships and struggles. For a start, Lottie would definitely know what to do about Mum’s dreadful boyfriend and his wimpy son! Jacqueline Wilson delivers another winner with this thought-provoking tale of two girls who live in different times, but share similar problems.

    Cool book! My nan got me this from the local charity shop. I didn’t know what to expect – but as soon as I’d read the first page it bowled me over! Amazing!
