ENEMY FIRE BY ANTHONY MASTERS

It’s about war in Iraq, two British pilots have been shot at by Iraqi forces and the tornado plane was destroyed.
The two pilots were John Peters and John Nichol; both of them were trying to come out of the plane when they got shot at. It was difficult to go back to the air force where they should have landed. Nichol rang the officer who was in charge of the air and they told him we cannot make it, we need to jump out Nichol said to Peters “When I say one to three then jump”. When they jumped they used the parachutes, when they got down to the ground Nichol was laughing and Peters told him to stop laughing and how can we find the way to get back to the army base.
The missile that had shot down the tornado had come up from behind them. That means they had been fired at from the ground. They said the Iraqi troops were probably searching to find where they were. Nichol and Peters walked for an hour. They left huge footprints in the sand.
John Nichol told Peters if the Iraqi force sees our footprints in the sand they will come after us so we need to go by hand and knees. Even this would still have left a trail.
Nichol remembered he was carrying his route map. This must not be allowed to fall into the hands of the enemy. He tried to eat a section of map and the rest of it they put in the sand
Then they saw many trucks full of the Iraqi army driving towards them.
The Iraqi army was full of guns like AK 47s Nichol and Peters tried hard to hide themselves in the sand but they knew didn’t have a chance to hide themselves.
The Iraqi force told them to surrender and they surrendered themselves.
They were held for seven weeks in terrible conditions and at the end of the gulf war they were released.
In my opinion this book is good to read because it reminds me of they saying. What goes around comes around”. I believe you should treat other as you want to be treated.
