Product description

Beauty Cookson is no beauty – and her scary Dad is always telling her so. He’s a fussy, bullying tyrant who constantly puts her and Mum down. And when a birthday party goes very wrong, Mum and Beauty realise that Dad is out of control. They need to get away before he hurts them. So Mum and Beauty run away… and start a new life in an idyllic seaside resort. There, they find a new-found freedom, a hobby, an income, and even a new nickname for Beauty. All of Beauty’s dreams are finally coming true – and she deserves it! This wonderfully heartwarming novel from Jacqueline Wilson is the inspirational story of a girl freeing herself from abuse and discovering her true strengths.

i have read this a week or 2 ago and i recommended it to all my friends and some parts really caught me at the heart like i cried about birthday and screamed at the book at the dad he sucks if he was real i would hope he would die in HELL. Skye was sooooo mean but at least her mother really cared i hated the big monster bunny he was gross i liked Rhona a lot and i hope there might be like a cookie part 2 thats all

This is the first book I bought from the scholastic book fair and I really really liked it. I read it 5 times. It is about a girl called Beauty who wishes she had a better name. Her father is a rich man with a big house and her mum is very kind but only knows how to cook toast.Beauty`s dad is a harsh man who shouts at her mum and her. He tells Beauty about her weight, ask her why she cant be like the other girls at her school like sky.Sky and her friends are really mean to Beauty and don’t like her one bit. They think shes fat and ugly. But she does make a friend with a girl called rhoanda

I THINK THAT THIS BOOK IS SO AMAZING ALTHOUGH THE FATHER OF BEAUTY IS HORRIBLE AND SLAPPED HER WIFE WHICH IS VERY MEAN. I CAN RECOMEND THIS BOKK TO ANYONE WHO IS 7 YEARS AND ABOVE.

Cookie by Jacqueline Wilson, is by far one of my favourite books. It’s a little old for me now, but I can read it over and over, and never get bored. The plot lines are thrilling, and yet not too over the top, and the weay it’s written makes you want to be best friends with beauty, and come in and help her save the day. A magnifincent read, for all ages in my opinion. :)

Cookie is such an un-expected read. I found it so different to Jacqueline’s other books. It has more of an adventurous plot line, and a more complicated story, yet it is still fantastic and brilliantly written. This is one of Wilson’s best books.

Beauty Cookson is no beauty! She’s ordinary, shy and nothing like those confident posh girls at her school. They’ve even come up with a new name for her…Ugly! What’s worse is that Beauty and her mum live in fear of Dad’s rages. Any little thing could set him off- good mood or not. But Beauty and her mum discover a new hobby: baking cookies. This is an excellent book! I was so upset about the way Beauty’s dad talked to her mum – no respect! – and the fact that they couldn’t even enjoy living in a beautiful house because of his stupid house rules.

The characters are warm, funny, unusual and different. I love the way all the characters develop and grow (Mum and Beauty) and some that never learn (Dad).

All in all this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Beauty may be no beauty; but she’s kind, different, intelligent and caring. A must read! I recommend it to everyone

I loved reading Cookie and I think Jaqueline Wilson is a great author. Her books always relate to real life and you can really imagine a girl scared of her brutal dad and escaping in a children’s tv programme. It makes me quite sad when the poor baby rabbit dies! Jaqueline has the ability to make you feel involved in the story. Cookie is an emotional story and when Beauty is sad, I feel sad, when she is happy, I am happy! I highly recommend this book.
