Product Description

Who needs an oracle to see the future? We’ll tell you right now that Rick’s storming new hero is more of exactly what you love. How do you punish a god? By making him human. The immortal god Apollo has cheeked his father, Zeus. Oops. Now he’s been cast down from Olympus – and he’s just crash-landed in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Apollo might be 4000 years old, but without his divine powers he’s about as ready for modern city life as a newborn baby. Even worse, while Apollo has lost his dad’s favour – and his godly good looks – he’s not shaken off his old enemies. He needs a hideout. Like Camp Half-Blood…

  • The brilliant new series from myth master Rick Riordan
  • Rick is the hugely acclaimed creator of Percy Jackson
  • A return to Camp Half Blood with a hilarious new hero
  • Bursting with humour, adventure and Greek mythology

Rick Riordan is a teacher and a writer, and has won many awards for his mystery novels for adults. He says that the idea for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief first came to him while he was teaching Greek mythology at middle school in San Francisco. But rumour has it that Camp Half Blood actually exists, and Rick spends his summers there recording the adventures of young demigods. Some believe that, to avoid a mass panic among the mortal population, he was forced to swear on the River Styx to present Percy Jackson’s story as fiction. Rick lives in Texas (apart from his summers on Half Blood Hill) with his wife and two sons.
